Finding a host for your writing career

Published by haven

Before you begin your research, you first need to outline what features you want from the service, and how technologically savvy you are.  A good exercise is putting your web-page outline on paper first.  What is the feel you are trying to convey to your readers?  Do you want complete freedom of design, or do you just want something simple, where you do your writing and marketing, and leave the rest to the host? There are many free web hosts, but a lot of them place forced ads on your web-page.  Some are more intrusive than others, and you have to decide whether you want your readers to see advertisements that are not related to your content.  Do you need access to customer service?  Do your homework and find out how and if the service is offered.  How often will you be adding content to your site?  If you are beginning, you really do not need much memory, but if this is your business, you probably will eventually need more, and research how much a plan with more memory will cost when that time does come.  Also, some companies have more downtime than others, meaning your webite will be unavailable to view a certain percentage of the time, so check on that, too.  Another thing to look into is whether the hosting company allows you the freedom to put your own ads on your pages, allowing you more income.  Placing your own adds needs HTML capability, which is fairly simple, you can read more on HTML for beginners, as well as guidelines and more helpful advice at http://jadexi.synthasite.com
